## What this lock does

The TechGuard Smart Door Lock Mini is a compact Wi-Fi smart door lock designed for interior doors, bedrooms, home offices, and private studio rooms. It replaces standard cylindrical and single-latch door handles without requiring complex carpentry or mortise cuts.

You unlock the door using:
- Fingerprint sensor integrated into the handle
- Digital PIN code entered on the backlit keypad
- Mechanical backup key (2 physical keys included)
- Cloud-generated temporary guest PIN from the TechGuard app

In the TechGuard app you can:
- Check connection status (Online, Standby, or Offline)
- Check estimated battery level
- Generate and revoke temporary guest PINs
- Review unlock history in the access log
- Turn passage mode on or off
- Configure push, email, and SMS security notifications

Important operation notice: Like all TechGuard door locks, locking and unlocking are handled mechanically at the door handle. You cannot motor-lock or motor-unlock the door remotely from the Home screen. Master fingerprints and owner PINs are enrolled directly on the physical keypad, not through the mobile app.

## What you need

- The TechGuard mobile app on iOS or Android (native build)
- A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi home network with password (5 GHz networks are not supported)
- 4 fresh AAA alkaline batteries (do not mix old and new batteries)
- Local network and location permissions enabled on your mobile phone
- Door thickness between 35 mm and 55 mm

## Setup and pairing

Pairing uses Wi-Fi SoftAP mode where the lock broadcasts a temporary setup hotspot.

1. Open the TechGuard app, navigate to **Add Device**, and select **Smart Door Lock**.
2. Enter your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network name and password. Do not enter the lock setup hotspot name here.
3. On the lock keypad, wake the screen, access setup mode by pressing the register button or default admin code, and switch Wi-Fi to **AP / Hotspot mode**. The keypad LED flashes to confirm AP broadcast.
4. On your mobile phone, open system Wi-Fi settings and connect to the lock network named **SL-xxxx** or **SmartLife-xxxx**. If the phone warns that this network has no internet access, tap **Keep Connected**.
5. Return immediately to the TechGuard app and tap **I have joined - Continue**. The setup hotspot remains active for approximately 90 seconds.
6. When prompted, return to your home Wi-Fi and tap **I am back on Wi-Fi**.
7. Assign a descriptive room name (such as "Study Door" or "Master Bedroom") and save the device.
8. Wake the keypad once immediately after saving to ensure cloud synchronization completes before the lock enters battery-saving sleep.

### If pairing fails

| Symptom | Resolution |
|---------|------------|
| Incorrect Wi-Fi password prompt | Re-enter your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi password. Verify that your router is not running 5 GHz only. |
| Setup hotspot disappeared | Wake the keypad and trigger AP mode again. Tap **I have joined** immediately after connecting. |
| Lock does not appear on Home | Check whether the lock appears under **Add Device -> Already in cloud**. If absent, restart pairing from step 1. |
| Phone drops setup hotspot | Disable auto-switch to mobile data in your phone Wi-Fi settings during setup. |

## Using the lock at the door

- **Unlock with fingerprint:** Place an enrolled finger firmly on the circular sensor at the handle pivot. A green flash and chime indicate authorized entry. Depress handle within 5 seconds.
- **Unlock with PIN:** Touch keypad to illuminate digits, type your 6 to 8 digit master PIN or active guest PIN, followed by the `#` key.
- **Locking:** Release the handle after door closure. The spring latch engages automatically.
- **Emergency key access:** Insert the mechanical key into the concealed cylinder on the handle underside and rotate 90 degrees to bypass battery or electronic components.
- **Emergency jumpstart:** If batteries are fully exhausted, plug a standard 5V power bank into the USB port beneath the handle to power the keypad and unlock with your PIN or fingerprint.

## The lock screen in TechGuard

The lock detail screen displays:
- **Status:** Locked or Unlocked (derived from the most recent physical event record).
- **Connection:** Online, Standby (normal power-saving sleep), or Offline.
- **Battery:** Percentage remaining. When replacement is required, a low battery badge displays.
- **Passage mode indicator:** Active when passage mode is engaged.
- **Quick actions:** Create PIN, Access Log, and Lock Settings.

## Guest PINs

Issue temporary access credentials for cleaners, visitors, or maintenance staff without sharing master codes:

1. Tap **Create Guest PIN**.
2. Enter a label (for example "Housekeeper").
3. Set a 7-digit numeric PIN.
4. Select validity duration: 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, or 72 hours.
5. Optionally enable **One-time use** (the PIN expires immediately after the first successful entry).
6. Tap Save. The PIN syncs to the lock on its next wake cycle. Verify the status displays Ready before use.

Revoke guest PINs at any time from the Guest Vault menu.

## Settings and features

- **Passage Mode:** Keeps the latch unlocked after any valid unlock until turned off. Useful during social events or moving goods into the room.
- **Alert preferences:** Toggle push notifications, email reports, and SMS text alerts for unlock activity, wrong code entries, and low battery.
- **Tamper alerts:** If 5 incorrect PIN attempts occur consecutively, the keypad locks for 90 seconds and an alert dispatches to your phone.

## What the app does not do

- Motorized remote deadbolt locking or unlocking from the phone
- Remote door status detection (there is no open/closed door contact sensor)
- Intercom or voice calling through the lock
- Biometric fingerprint enrollment over the phone (must be enrolled physically at the lock)

---

## Maintenance and battery replacement

- Replace all 4 AAA batteries when the low battery warning sounds or the app shows under 20% power.
- Use high-quality alkaline batteries. Do not use rechargeable NiMH cells due to lower nominal voltage.
- Clean the fingerprint sensor surface with a dry microfibre cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, bleach, or solvents.
