## What this tracker does

The TechGuard Vehicle GPS Tracker is a **hard-wired 4G GPS terminal** for cars, motorcycles, and light commercial vehicles. It reports live location over cellular data, stores recent GNSS points when coverage drops, and can cut fuel or ignition through an external relay when that relay is installed.

You add it in the TechGuard app by **IMEI** (type or scan the barcode on the device label).

In the TechGuard app you can:

- See the vehicle on a **live map**, with online / ignition / freshness status
- Open **directions** to the last known position and **share** location
- Review **trip history** and **track playback** for recent days
- Create **geofences** and see enter / exit history
- Send **engine immobilise / restore** (relay) when the device is online
- Send device commands when the cloud exposes them: locate now, overspeed, vibration alarm, reporting interval, SOS numbers, reboot
- Read device, location, vehicle, and driver details from the tracker profile

This model does **not** include a camera, microphone, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi hotspot. It is a location and telematics terminal only.

## Safety and legal

- Install only on vehicles you own or are authorised to monitor.
- Immobilise **only when the vehicle is stopped and safe**. Cutting fuel or ignition while moving can cause an accident.
- Have a qualified auto electrician do relay and ignition wiring. Incorrect wiring can damage the vehicle or tracker.
- Do not open or modify the internal battery. Do not expose the pack to fire, water immersion, crushing, or short circuits.
- Keep the SIM topped up. Without data, the app cannot refresh location.
- Follow local privacy and labour rules if you track employee or shared vehicles. Tell drivers when tracking is active if the law requires it.

---

## Prepare the SIM and power on

1. Disconnect vehicle power from the harness if already wired.
2. Remove the top cover. Set the **switch to OFF**.
3. Insert a **Nano-SIM** correctly (contacts oriented per the slot marking). The SIM must have **data** enabled and must not be barred for arrears.
4. Set the switch to **ON**. Refit the cover and tighten the two screws.
5. Connect red (VCC) and black (GND) to a fused vehicle supply in the 9–90 V range. Connect orange (ACC) to a true ignition-switched wire if you want ignition status in the app.
6. Place the unit with the top facing the sky, clear of thick metal and heated windshield films that block GNSS.
7. Wait for green (cellular) and blue (GNSS) indicators to show a healthy pattern. First fix outdoors may take up to about a minute.

**Before removing the SIM again:** disconnect external power and set the internal switch to OFF.

---

## Installation

Professional installation is recommended for permanent mounts and for any fuel / ignition cut-off.

### Finding vehicle wires

1. Use a multimeter to identify battery **+** and **−**. Battery voltage appears regardless of key position.
2. Find **ACC**: black probe on ground, red probe on candidate wires. With key OFF the reading should be about 0 V; with key ON it should match supply voltage.
3. Join the tracker connectors, or splice colour-to-colour if the vehicle has no mating plug. Use proper crimps or solder and heat-shrink. Fuse the VCC feed.

### Relay (immobilise)

Wire the yellow **Relay** lead through the supplied (or equivalent) relay so that an immobilise command interrupts fuel pump or ignition supply according to the relay diagram in your kit. Without this wiring, immobilise commands have no effect on the vehicle.

### Suggested mount points

**Cars:** under the dash, under the rear windshield (glass without metal film), or under the hood away from extreme heat and moving parts.

**Motorcycles:** near the headlight housing, under the seat, inside fairings or floorboard plastics, or inside taillight covers. Keep the unit facing skyward.

Avoid stacking the tracker under metal heat shields or metallised glass.

---

## Add the tracker in the TechGuard app

1. Open TechGuard → **Add** → **Vehicle GPS Tracker**.
2. Enter the **15-digit IMEI** from the label on the device body, or scan the barcode.
3. Confirm the device is found, give it a name (for example `Hilux Lagos`), and save.
4. Open it from Home. You should see a map preview when a position is available, plus online / ACC status when the cloud has a recent update.

IMEI tip: it is printed on the body label, usually 15 digits and not starting with 0.

### If pairing fails

| What you see | What to do |
|--------------|------------|
| Device not found | Recheck the IMEI; wait until the unit is online on cellular; try again |
| Invalid barcode | Scan the device label barcode, or type the IMEI by hand |
| Already on another account | Contact support to release the IMEI, then pair again |
| Paired but no location | Move outdoors, confirm SIM data, confirm power and LEDs, pull to refresh |

---

## Tracker screen (device detail)

Open the tracker from Home.

| Area | What it shows |
|------|----------------|
| Map preview | Last known position. Tap to open the live map |
| Status strip | Online / offline, ignition (ACC) on or off, how stale the last fix is |
| Action grid | Share, Navigation, Tracking, Command, Geofence, Playback |
| Device section | Name, type, IMEI, expiry (if any), SIM number, status, ACC |
| Location section | Last location time, speed, longitude, latitude, address when resolved |
| Vehicle / driver | Plate, VIN, brand, model, and driver fields when filled on the profile |

You can rename the device or remove (unpair) it from the header actions. Unpairing removes it from your account; you can pair the same IMEI again later.

### Quick actions

| Action | What it does |
|--------|----------------|
| Share | Share the current location link / details from the phone share sheet |
| Navigation | Open turn-by-turn directions toward the tracker in your maps app |
| Tracking | Live map focused on the vehicle (can show a route toward it) |
| Command | Engine immobilise / restore and other device commands |
| Geofence | Create, edit, delete zones; view enter / exit history |
| Playback | Replay track points and open trip lists for recent days |

---

## Live map

Open **Tracking** (or tap the map preview).

- Vehicle marker updates as new positions arrive
- Configured geofences draw as circles on the map
- Controls let you refresh, change map type, show a route from you to the vehicle, and follow the vehicle
- Location status shows whether the last update is fresh or stale

If the map says location is not available yet, wait for the first GNSS fix and cellular upload, then refresh.

---

## Trip history and track playback

**Playback** loads recent track points. You can filter by presets such as Today, Yesterday, Last 3 days, Last 7 days, or a custom range (custom ranges are capped; the API may clamp to the most recent 7 days). You can filter by positioning type (All, GPS, LBS, and others when present).

From playback you can open **Trips**: day strips, distance summaries, start / end tags, and a per-trip route map when points exist.

Empty periods mean no trip was recorded for that window, not that the tracker is broken. Parked vehicles with sparse reporting intervals produce fewer points.

---

## Geofences

Open **Geofence**.

1. Add a geofence: name it, optional description, tap the map to set the centre, set the radius.
2. Save. The zone appears under configured geofences and on the live map.
3. Edit or delete from the list.
4. Review **Enter / Exit history** for crossings the system recorded.

Use clear names such as `Home`, `Yard`, or `Office`. Alerts depend on the tracker being online and reporting position.

---

## Engine control (immobilise)

Open **Command**.

| Control | What it does |
|---------|----------------|
| Immobilise engine | Cuts fuel / ignition via the relay. Requires confirmation. Use only when the vehicle is stopped and safe |
| Restore engine | Re-enables the relay for normal start / drive. Requires confirmation |

The device must be **online**. Offline units cannot receive the command. Immobilise has no vehicle effect if the yellow relay circuit was never installed.

Optional device commands (shown only when the cloud exposes them for this unit):

| Command | What it does |
|---------|----------------|
| Locate now | Request a fresh position / status |
| Overspeed alert | Enable / disable and set speed limit (km/h) and detection time |
| Vibration / movement alarm | Enable / disable movement alarm when parked |
| Reporting interval | How often to report when moving (ACC on) and parked (ACC off) |
| SOS numbers | Up to three phone numbers for device SOS flows |
| Reboot | Restart the tracker (type CONFIRM) |

---

## Alerts

When the backend receives hardware alarms, TechGuard can surface events such as:

- Geofence enter / exit
- Overspeed
- Harsh braking
- Impact / collision
- Vibration / movement
- Power cut / power tamper
- Engine on / off
- SOS

Push delivery depends on notification settings and phone permissions. Not every hardware alarm type appears as a dedicated button on the tracker home screen; events are stored and shown where the app lists alerts for that device.

---

## Everyday use

- Keep the SIM data plan active. No data means stale or missing maps.
- Park under open sky after install so the first fix succeeds, then hide the unit.
- Check ACC wiring if ignition status never changes in the app.
- After immobilise, restore the engine before expecting a normal start.
- If LEDs are dark but tracking still works, that can be normal power-saving behaviour.
- Unpair only when you intend to move the unit to another account.

---

## What the app does not do

- Live video, talkback, or cabin recording (use a TechGuard dash camera SKU for that)
- Pairing by Wi-Fi SoftAP or Tuya QR (this tracker is IMEI / Jimi only)
- Guaranteed immobilise without a correctly wired relay
- Unlimited historical track beyond what the API returns (expect recent days, often capped around 7 for custom playback)
- Fake “always exact” indoor positions: indoors and under metal, GNSS can fall back to LBS with lower accuracy
- Family sharing of the tracker beyond your TechGuard account permissions

---

## Troubleshooting

| Issue | What to check |
|-------|----------------|
| Poor or no satellite fix | Move outdoors; face the unit upward; avoid metal covers and metallised glass |
| No cellular / offline in app | SIM seated correctly; data plan active; not out of coverage; wipe SIM contacts; try another SIM |
| Power-on failure | Confirm 9–90 V on red/black; fuse; switch ON; charge via vehicle power if internal pack is flat |
| Paired but location never updates | Unit online? GNSS fixed? Wait and refresh; check reporting interval commands |
| Immobilise does nothing | Relay wired? Device online? Command confirmed? Restore then retry after vehicle is safe |
| Ignition always Off | Orange ACC not on a true ignition wire |
| Commands fail | Device must be online; wait and retry; reboot only if instructed |
| Geofence alerts missing | Zone saved? Tracker reporting while crossing? Notifications allowed on the phone? |

---

## Unpair / remove

On the tracker screen, use remove / unpair. This drops the device from your account only. The hardware keeps working on the network. Pair again later with the same IMEI if needed.

---

## Care and maintenance

- Keep cover screws tight so the IP65 seal stays effective.
- Do not wash the unit with a pressure washer aimed at the harness entry.
- After any vehicle electrical work, recheck VCC, GND, ACC, and relay connections.
- For firmware updates, use the Type-C port only as directed by TechGuard or an authorised technician.
